One Foot, Then The Other

photo 1(22)The framing continues! A bit more in the master bedroom and this phase of the project will be complete.

Our new framing buddy pointed out something super crucial today. To be “to code,” every bedroom must have an escape-able window. Basically a 4 foot squared window that an adult body could fit through in the event of fire, etc.. Soleil’s bedroom as well as the guest bedroom are already up to code, but our bedroom is not. Luckily, we have an extra window with the required dimensions AND there is room within the left container door to install it. Sometimes a set of new eyes can be so helpful in troubleshooting and problem solving.

We should soon have metal roofing arriving on site. Both our electrician and insulation companies are all lined up. We’ve got our hopes for completion set on August. There is a constant struggle between pushing ourselves and pacing ourselves, but we know we’ll get there. All in perfect timing.

  1. Hi Brook, Ryan, and Soleil.

I’ve been following your blog for a while now and you guys have inspired me and my husband to build our own shipping container home down in Australia. We feel similar to you guys, with there being do much waste in society. Wasted materials and space. It’s great reading about what you’re doing and seeing the photos as it all comes together.

So thank you very much for the inspiration!
